In a far future where Earth’s surface has been covered by water, humanity prevails in floating, bubble-shaped cities high above the clouds, held up by anti-grav technology. Armed with flying mechs capable of projecting force fields around themselves, the cities wage war against each other over the resources found in mysterious floating islands that have started to appear across the vast skies of the planet.
Shieldbursters is a miniatures agnostic skirmish wargame where two or more players take control of teams composed of flying mechs capable of projecting bubble shields around themselves.
To play, you only need pen and paper, tokens/minis, 1-3 wooden sticks to measure movements, and about 4 six sided dice.
The game takes inspiration from the works of Ichirō Itano and games like LANCER, Planet FIST, Sword Weirdos and Mechwarrior, focusing on high speed action featuring:
- A weight classification system that lets you adapt your mechs to different combat niches.
- +10 different weapons to arm your mechs with. From swarms of guided micro-missiles to heavy cannons and giant swords.
Currently, the game is in a prototype state. I plan to keep updating the game as I develop more weapons, scenarios and mechanics for players to enjoy.
